Kombucha has a Chinese heritage that dates back 2,000 years. So whilst it may only be starting to trend amongst health bloggers and hippie hipsters now, it has actually been around for quite a long time. Essentially it’s a fermented tea full of probiotics that does all kinds of wonder stuff for the body – think boosted metabolism, lowered cholesterol, stronger immunity and helps to improve joints and ease aches.
It is often referred to as ‘Scoby’ – ‘ symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts’, which could definitely appear as a villain at the end of a marvel graphic novel.
Well, that’s what google tells me about the stuff they call ‘Kombucha’ … if you were looking for a super brief overview… hopefully that will help. Otherwise, check out these links from far more qualified writers to find out more –
